<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> Hi, I just got results back from a stool test and my doctor says they suggest I may be "gluten intolerant". He suggests not eating gluten for 6 months and taking and enzyme with "glutenaise" in it before each meal, taking 2 of them when I have to eat gluten. Is gluten intolerance the same as celiac disease? What sort of definitive medical test can be done to determine for sure if I have celiac disease or am gluten intolerant? My doctor is an environmental doctor who I have been seeing for EPD treament for my allergies. My symptoms are a bloated stomach and a pins and needles sensation in my stomach--no specific part--which the doctor says indicates inflammation. A medical drink called "Inflamex" makes the pins and needles go away but the bloating continues, though not as bad as before. I did not have these stomach symptoms prior to undergoing EPD treatment. Tests in the past have not indicated a gluten intolerance problem. The test my doctor is basing this on is the "Anti-Gliadin SIgA" test and "Intest Alpha Anti-chymotrypsin"--both of which I scored in the high level. The lab report does say in fine print that "positive AGA antibodies may not necessarily imply a celiac disease state, but a subclinical mucotoxic reaction." If anyone has any advice, comments etc. I'd appreciate it. Charles
