Any food to be eaten in a Paleo-regimen, should be able to be eaten raw.
Example- you cant eat beans raw

In addition to that, the deal with high-carb high-starch foods, is that
they break down into too much sugar for the body to use. Tubers (potatoes,
yams, etc) and grains (including corn) do this.

Peas are ok, since you can eat them raw, but people substitute the words
peas and beans sometimes. Just think 'peas-in-a-pod' if they come in a pod
(like green beans) then they are ok, since you can eat it raw.
However, black eyed peas are beans, and should be avoided.
