Michael Jones <[log in to unmask]> Orlando, FL USA One of the Celiac & Cel-Kids Listowners <http://rdz.acor.org/lists/celiac/index.html> ----------- The International Youth Summer Camp in Hungary 1999 In Hungary we have a tradition: more than ten years we have organised regularly summer camps for celiac children and youth. Since many years we have a 'dream' - which in 1999 seems to be realised. We would like to invite young celiacs from Europe, and from all over the world to get acquainted with them and to show our country. Last year the first International Summer camp wasn't really successful, regarding the number of foreign (non-Norwegian) participants. To conclude the last year experiences, we propose to make the following modifications: a.. The camp will start a little bit later (because of the beginning of students' holiday). b.. We try to satisfy different desires, so we divided the program into two separate parts, and we offer alternatives c.. We try to minimise the expenses: we suggest to find sponsors and to participate in different competitions: that way we hope that everybody will be able to cover the charges of the camp. (In case you live in a member state of the European Union please contact your national celiac society about the supporting possibilities) The program of the International Camp: Part I. 28th june - 2nd july: (The Camp) Holiday Home in Siofok - directly on the coast of Lake Balaton - this is the "Hungarian Sea". The place is extremely perfect site for a summer camp - we have organised there our meetings already three times. The restaurant is ready for serving special (celiac) diet. Part II. 2nd - 4th july: (Hungary) The participants will stay in Budapest, in a Youth Hostel. The purpose of our program is to show you our country (included the 'Puszta', the Hungarian people and our culture), with sightseeing in Budapest and excursions by bus to different nice and famous places in Hungary. (The 'Puszta' is a typical Hungarian countryside) We suggest to arrive the previous day and to leave at the evening time or later. We shall help everybody who plans to extend their stay in Hungary: we offer cheap hotels and glutenfree conditions. The Camp '99 will be: a.. International - You can meet celiac young people from different European countries (we invite many Hungarian youngsters, too) a.. You can share your own personal experiences with the others b.. We shall communicate in English (but you should not be a 'professor'). a.. Young - The invited age group is 17-26 (but we do not create strict limits) a.. Summer Camp -At Lake Balaton we offer a traditional summer camp program, with swimming in the lake, different sport activities (football, basketball, table tennis, etc.), boat-trips, music, dance, camp-fire, different amusing games and leisure activities. A.. for Celiac - We would like to help celiacs to solve their everyday problems: how to organise their healthy life and perfect celiac diet. a.. Give information about the new results of scientific researches (we invite specialists of our medical board) b.. Some speciality of the Hungarian kitchen will be prepared together (baking courses but only 'gluten-free style') c.. All the offered food and meals (four times a day) will be guaranteed gluten-free (and/or lactose-, soya-, egg-, milk etc.-free or vegetarian, on request) d.. continuous medical support by a gastroenterologist B.. In Hungary - We would like to offer programs, together with young Hungarian celiac people. We hope to let you know better our country, culture and kitchen. a..
