I can tell you about one of my experiences... I went from a 386 DX 40 with 16MB RAM with a 250 MB HD, to a P 75 with 32MB RAM... I kept the 250 MB HD, and the system didn't seem like it had sped up much at all... After a month or so, I went to a 1.2 gig HD, and you should have seen the difference... I couldn't believe that the HD was slowing it down that much... I checked the access time on both drives, and the access time on the 250 was about 18ms, the access time on the 1.2 gig was about 8 or 9ms... > -----Original Message----- > From: Dave Perry [SMTP:[log in to unmask]] > Sent: Wednesday, February 03, 1999 2:22 PM > To: [log in to unmask] > Subject: [PCBUILD] Help, new system advice > > Hello one and all. > I'm building up a new system for some friends that will have these > components: Asus p5a motherboard, K6-2 300 processor, Century pc100 > memory, > Creative 40x cdrom, US robotics 56k modem and an Awe 64 sound card.
