Kris Moore-- First of all, I am not a doctor. However, when my doctor
thought I might have LI, he said drink a glass of milk on an empty stomach.
I had a very time day for the rest of the day. From then on, I drank 99%
lactose free milk and chewed Lactaid tablets. My problems continued. I
continued to report problems including experiencing 4 sinus infections per
year and increasing frequency and lengthier periods of malaise. I eventually
suggested to him that it had to be either dairy or sinuses. He sent me to a
specialist who said my sinuses were totally clear. I then stopped all dairy
(2 years ago this month). I have felt much better since then. I've had only
one sinus infection in 2 years and that came with a deadly summer cold. As
far as dairy is concerned, I get ambushed from time to time but generally do
OK. My main points are these: doctors cannot determine what affects each and
every person because we are all so different. Secondly, we know our bodies
better than doctors. Thirdly, taking certain non-threatening steps is in
your best interest. Therefore, I recommend that your friend's daughter stop
using dairy for a few weeks. It won't cause any harm and poses no risk. As
far as non-dairy foods, there are many alternatives available, and people on
this list can help out.
