I also had the exact same problem with a BJC 4000. I tried all the fixes that you did at a cost of over $100 for new tanks and cartridges to no avail. Canon was responsive but much less than helpful. It would have been nice if they had admitted that this is a common problem with this series of printers. My final diagnosis was a bad logic board and my final solution was replacement with an Epson. If anyone is interested I have a BJC 4000 for sale cheap with two extra sets of tanks and cartridges. It works fine except for the invisible printing. Sam's Club is selling a Canon BJC 4400 for $140 (with a $25 rebate) through the month of December. While the problem may only be a bad signal back to the computer, the effort versus cost to fix is not reasonable. Unfortunately, even color inkjet printers are becoming throw-away items.
