A friend of mine recently installed a Monster3d II (voodoo2 based)into his K6 233 and since the install his system has been acting strangely. The computer boots fine the first time (after being left off overnight), and all is well until he disconnects from the internet, then the modem makes clicking nosies (the same clicking noises it makes when it opens or closes connection), about 2 per second. This only stops when the system is powered down. On successive boots the screen remains blank, and the bios does not beep. The computer will boot normally if it is left powered off for around 30 seconds. It then behaves normally, but the modem is not accessible. THe next morning the process repeats itself, everything works fine on the first boot (even the modem), then it wil not boot until left alone for a short while, and finally when it boots the modem is not accessible. Is this normal behavior for a system with some type of hardware conflict? It is possible that the motherboard/modem may have been damaged in the installation of the 3d card, but I am at a loss to explain the behavior of the system. -- Bill Rosgen, aka Glucose [log in to unmask] ICQ#1808697 "The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
