Aw, Tif, don't scare 'em quite *that* badly!

Raw Pacific salmon can carry a rickettsial parasite that is benign in
humans, but can cause death in dogs.  However, the parasite is
killed by freezing the fish for a day.  Bottom line is, if you are eating
Pacific salmon raw yourself, fine.  If you are feeding it to your dog,
freeze it first, then thaw and feed raw.

I checked this one out quite thoroughly, and quit feeding salmon to
Eclipse for a time, until I found out for sure.  Now, I just make sure
that I freeze it first if salmon is in season.  Otherwise, the fish
processor has already done the job for me!
