Michelle, is your question for me or Chester?  If it's for me, I'm
referring to the type of AFO that fits inside a shoe or boot.  If the
AFO is not articulated (hinged), then the material is usually thin
enough that no special considerations need be made.  If it is
articulated, then the section that is hinged sticks out a good ways so
it's not the easiest thing to get inside a shoe or boot.  If the shoe is
designed so the hinge can be outside (above) the shoe proper, so much
the better.  Hope this helps.
