  Assuming that these are serial mice (and so this is the problem
that I have seen several times before), try installing a DOS mouse
driver from CONFIG.SYS or AUTOEXEC.BAT.
  Seriously.  Win 95 sometimes has trouble detecting a serial mouse,
but it will easily detect the DOS driver and replace it, while
booting,  with its own.  I didn't believe it when I was first told,
but I've seen it work half a dozen times now, and only seen it fail
once when the mouse was actually dead.
