It needs to be fairly portable, and, of > course, cost is an issue. I have seen an alternative to the complete LCD Projector. It is a projection screen that looks just like the LCD screen on a laptop, except that it has glass on both sides. It sits on top of one of those overhead transparency projectors (transmission only, not reflection). Overhead projectors can be rented most places that rent lecture halls, and you don't have to lug around the heavy light box and fan. I have seen prices varying from $6,995.00 CDN for a new, color SVGA model with fan for use with up to 5 or 6 KW projectors (comparable to a movie theater projector) to $35.00 CDN for used, surplus, Apple monochrome rated, I think, up to only 600 W (no fan). You might want to start with a cheaper monochrome unit (typically about $100.00 surplus), to try things out. If you are pressed to make a decision, it would also give you time to shop around for something better. It would be good for text and useful as a backup in event of disaster - after all, these things ARE made of glass. I have seen one advertisement for a laptop with the light/back of its LCD removable for use with overhead projectors, but I suspect that it is a poor compromise. I hope this proves useful, and not just several more things to complicate your decision. Boyd Ramsay [log in to unmask] ----- **Need help with PCBUILD mailing list?
