I've been eating a low-carb diet for about seven weeks now, and as of a couple
of weeks ago, I noticed that my resting pulse is elevated to 90-100, whereas
it was only 60 pre-low carb.  I'm taking calcium, magnesium, and potassium, at
someone's suggestion, and that hasn't helped.

My diet is pretty close to paleo, except I rely on chicken and fish rather
than red meat.  Eight days ago I finally eliminated dairy products.  I eat
very little fruit, as I am attempting to lose another 35 pounds.  I was a
vegetarian for 25 years, and even getting used to fish and chicken has been a
bit tough, but I'm working on it!

Anyone have any clues as to why my pulse is so stubbornly elevated?  I'm
thinking of adding more fruit into my diet for a while to see if the pulse
rate will drop with more carbs.  I strongly believe this is related to eating
low carb, as a year and a half ago, when I ate low-carb for a few weeks, the
same thing happened.  (The raised pulse was one of the reasons I quit low-carb
at the time).

By the way, I don't believe the elevated pulse is an allergic reaction, as it
is elevated even in the morning, before I eat.
