<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> Hello Everyone! We received 62 responses to our question concerning the establishment of a travel site for celiacs, and the overwhelmng majority of people said they would definitely be interested. Only one person said they liked the current system and didn't want to see it changed. This person was concerned that he/she would miss something if they relied on the site and it wasn't constantly updated because stores, restaurants, etc. open and close all the time. Keeping the site up-to-date would be a lot of work, but not impossible, I think. Of course, the site can only be as up to date as travelers are willing to make it. I, personally, don't see why a website has to conflict with the List Serve, but I gather, from a posting by one of the owners, that there is some concern. A couple of people even suggested ways that the List Serve and site could complement each other. For instance, one person suggested that if an area someone was interested in wasn't listed on the site, he could post to the List Serve then summarize his replies for the travel site and others to use. Someone else said that a site could improve on the List because it would allow people to browse through other travellers' suggestions for ideas regarding their own trips. They might then decide to visit someplace new based on what they learned. To all of you who offered to help - I will be e-mailing you privately in the near future. So far, members from New Zealand, Great Britain, Denmark, and Spain have offered to provide information from their countries. In the US I've received offers from San Francisco and Stanford, California; southwestern Montana; New York City; Northhampton, Massachusetts; Kentucky; and Denver, Colorado. I'm not requesting the actual information yet, but if you are willing to provide information for another part of the US or a country outside the US, please let me know. In the meantime, we're busy checking out the best way to set the whole thing up. (Our current site isn't big eough for something of this scope.) Thanks for your offers to help. I'll keep you all posted. Regards, Lani K. Thompson E. Stoneham, ME Visit our celiac web page at: http://www.freeyellow.com/members/clanthompson/index.html
