I had the same problem with a HP 820cse and figured out the problem was in the drivers. I suspect you have the same problem. The newest 800 series drivers which finally include NT drivers and were made available in Feb 98 do not allow you to easily install the local HP as a network printer. The drivers will not correctly transfer the appropriate files form the local to the network PC....the only way I could make it work was to hand feed the network PC the files it asked for which is a tedious process. However this approach only works if the local and network PC are running 95/98 .....this will not work if your local is NT4 and your network is 95 as there is a special NT procedure. Once I actually had the drivers installed and working I had problems printing certain documents correctly in MS Publisher 97 and 98. I finally removed the new HP drivers and went back to my original drivers on my 95 machines...........and now things are back to normal with all the usually and known HP bugs.......but at lease I can install across a network and print my pub files. I have tied to contact HP to report the bugs and tell them that their new drivers are not network friendly but HP has made itself very inaccessible. They do not even post a email address for printer support or anything else as far as I can tell. Mark >Just out of curiosity, what type of printer do you have?
