<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> Hi. I got a call back from Aim International, the company which markets Barleygreen. I spoke with Steve Lankford, product specialist at 208-463-2629. He said the product is produced on dedicated equipment by a Japanese scientist in California. He is going to mail me some broshures on the product. He will call California and find out if the product has ever been tested. If not, he will request that the product be tested by an outside source for gluten content in parts per million. I also have a call out to another business which I know has had their product tested this way. I am requesting the name, address, and phone number of this firm so that Steve has a company he can use which currently does this testing for others. He did tell me that they have been claiming that the product is gluten free because supposedly the gluten is in the grain, not the grass. The grass is cut between 2 - 3 weeks old, and only the grass is used in barleygreen. Grains take about 2 months to develop--is the "impression" he has--so contamination is unlikely. But he would look into it to make sure that it really takes that long for the grain to develop and will send me the information. This is all based on theory to his knowledge. I will have to get back to you all in March when I return from vacation. Hopefully Steve wil have started getting the product tested. Of course the company which does the actual manufacturing for them would have to give the approval for this also. Have a wonderful February. I will be staying warm.
