When you think you have everything closed, you will actually find out things are different behind the curtains. To aid other processes and give them the greatest chance to suceed, the following routine is recommended when installing and uninstalling software as well. Press the three keys <Ctrl><Alt><Delete> and a "Close Program" dialog box will pop up with a list of programs and drivers currently sitting in memory. Of these, DO NOT close or "Eend Task" for either EXPLORER or SYSTRAY. However, for each other entry, select (one at a time) by clicking on them then click on the "End Task" option. For some of the programs, a second dialog box may pop up a moment or two later but just do the obvious and tell the system to proceed with the close action.Do this for each entry in turn until you have only the Explorer and Systray entries. Click on the "Cancel" option to close the dialog box. You may possibly see an icon or two still sitting in the tray at the bottom of the screen but don't be concerned about that. Now run your Scandisk and hopefully it will run to successful completion. Larry Stewart email: [log in to unmask] PCSOFT: http://nospin.com or [log in to unmask]
