John, Setting the speaker volume in the control panel settings SHOULD have taken care of it, but obviously it didn't. Try this: CONTROL PANEL --> MODEMS --> PROPERTIES --> CONNECTION --> ADVANCED CONNECTION SETTINGS --> EXTRA SETTINGS In the extra settings block, put in the command that sets your modem speaker output to zero. You'll have to consult your owners manual for this, or if you tell me what type of modem you have, I may be able to help you figure it out....that is if your modem uses a standard Hayes Command Set.
