<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> The Listowners have traditionally performed many actions in the background to control the volume of mail on our List. These actions are undertaken because volume is the number one reason for unsubscribing. New subscribers are shipped several reference files that explain what is available from the List. For many reasons, this information is often skipped, destroyed, or lost by new subscribers. Additionally, differences in operation between this and other Lists that enforce no rules contribute to a misunderstanding of what can be posted on the Celiac List. To help counteract this problem, we will begin to post occasional short messages to highlight some of the reference files or to remind subscribers of the List guidelines. Our goal is to produce two or three short messages each month. Please understand that this change is designed to improve operations not change the way that 90 percent of our subscribers support our mutual goals. Our first message will highlight a common error regarding the contents of posts. All posts must remain within the scope of being a discussion on celiac disease or the gluten-free diet/lifestyle. Just because a post is sent to the List, does not make it an appropriate discussion for our List. An example of this problem was the recent discussion about the FCC and the Internet. If you desire to reply to one of these posts, please reply to the poster NOT the List. Each month we will also post information on reference files that have been updated on the Listserve and the WWW during the previous month. On 1 and 6 January, selected monthly files were updated. These files contain extracts of recipes and posts from our experts during December.
