<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> I got some great responses to my question as to anyone else experiencing lower back pain. I received 15 responses from people who had experienced the same problem. (for those of you who asked my age, it's 28) Most people agreed that the pain came from bloating after a gluten attack - that the bloating puts pressure on our spines and causes pain. A few people mentioned that they take calcium, calcium in orange juice, and magnesium (to prevent ostereoporosis since we are at a greater risk than the general population). One person mentioned that back stretches help and that in addtion to the other vitamins above, she takes zinc. Another person takes Fosomax and Oscal for ostereoporosis. An interesting explanation came from someone who said that joint pain is common for celiacs and that in a GF reaction, "intermediate metabolites" or partially digested proteins enter the bloodstream and tend to collect in the joints to cause pain and soreness. One person mentioned a chiropractor was helpful to her and that our lower back is very sensitive to changes in diets. Another person mentioned that they are sensistive to fats and oils, especially in chocolate and beef and experiences pain when they ingest these. Someone said that back pain in women can be associated with kidney pain and that I need to drink more water (I drink alot, however). Thanks again! Amy in NY
