<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> Just in time for the spring allergy season, the inactive ingredients in some of the over-the-counter antihistamine/decongestant products sold by Walgreens drug stores (Midwestern and Western USA) have been changed. For example, Walgreens sells three or four different products that combine chlorphenriamine maleate and pseudoephedrine hydrochloride as the antihistamine and decongestant, respectively. "WalPhed Plus" which was formerly starch- and lactose-free now contains lactose and pregelatinized starch. Conversely, "Walgreens Anti-Allergy," which formerly contained sodium starch glycolate (mystery starch) now appears to be free of starch and lactose. (Also note that the recommended dosage of these two products is not the same). Some other Walgreens products and "branded generic" antihistamines sold by other retailers may also be affected. Please carefully check the label on EVERY bottle you buy--at my local Walgreens there was a mix of the old and new formulations of "Anti-Allergy" on the same shelf.
