Holycow, thanks for your well meaning advice. Believe me, I have done my
research, as I have suffered with Wilson's Syndrome since I was 15 years old,
and I am now 41. I did not "jump into any alternative thyroid treatment"
either. I am well aware of the case in Florida involving Dr. Wilson and the
death of a patient. This protocol has risks, just like any other protocol,
and if a patient is not responsible and careful in the titrating of the
thyroid medication, it could be dangerous.
The fact that the Florida Board of Medicine "determined that Wilson was
prescribing a drug that patients didn't need for a condition that they didn't
have", only suggests to me the limited knowledge of the Florida Board of
Medicine.
I do not expect someone that does not suffer from this disorder to
understand. I also do not wish to debate the issue over and over. I expect
that very soon someone else will do a double blind study, get published in a
peer review journal and change the protocol slightly, and the medical
community will embrace something that Dr. Wilson tried to convince them of
for several years. In the meantime, a lot of people suffer.
