<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> Dear Dianne in B.C. Canada, I believe that most (knowledgeable) GI doctors will (should) recommend the normal 2 or 3 blood tests to screen for CD in any patient with a suggestive family history and certainly any patients with symptoms. These tests are well known and fairly reliable. If these tests are positive, the patient MUST be biopsied (small intestine) normally with an upper endoscopy, to confirm the CD diagnosis. It is harmful to a CD person to have even small amounts of gluten in their diets. The damage could be cumulative. Please follow through with this all the way and then, if positive, follow a strict gluten free diet. Good luck Steve in Chicago, Illinois USA
