<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> Messages charged with stereotypes such as "rich persons disease", makes me question the medical validity of the authors. I am certain there are many poor people with osteoporosis who have this condition as a result of hormonal imbalance, malabsorption, heredity, and or poor diet. It is true vegetarian diets are preferable, but osteoporosis is a very complex condition brought about by many factors. The Celiac condition & the malabsorption that results is of particular concern to women. I can't vouch for the elephants of Africa or if they have been tested for osteo. You seem to be comparing apples & oranges. I don't have tusks or a trunk nose either, nor is a human gestation period 22 months. Elephants are a different class, order & species. They also eat 500 pounds of vegetation a day & drink up to 40 gallons of water at a time. Females weigh up to 4 tons & walk about 50 miles per day. Although elephants are mammals, the other similarities to compare w/ humans is not at all parallel. I think this info misleads a group of people who are very much so prone to osterporosis. Many people with Celiac disease are making up for years of calcium loss, and malabsorption- so those green leafy veggies so rich in vitamins, calcium & nutrients were not absorbed by the body. This is a subject worth exploring- with your health care practitioner & perhaps your gynecologist as well. Fran
