<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> I am a doctoral student at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., I have celiac disease, and I am a member of a Roman Catholic community of women religious (I am a nun, basically). I have been asked several times, and am curious myself, about how having Celiac disease affects the religious practices of people. If people would like to e-mail me privately, I would love to hear from you, and I will post a summary of the responses to the list. I receive communion daily, and because my church will not allow anything other than wheat, this means that I do ingest a bit of wheat (gluten) every day. I know this makes some people on the list cringe, but it is how I have decided to deal with the problem> I have been fortunate to have a priest who knows of my illness and breaks a very small piece of the host for me. How do others deal with questions of communion, Passover, etc? Sr. Tracey
