<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> I was diagnosed as having an allergy to gluten about 18 months ago, based on the ELISA/ACT blood test (IgG4 antibodies). The test also turned up many other food allergies, including dairy products. My symptoms show up mainly in my hands (eczema, swelling leading to cracks in the skin which are prone to infection), plus occasional all-over itching on my body (scratching leads to welts). Have also had some gas & diarrhea (nothing severe), and have been underweight since age 13 (also the year my eczema started). Greatly reducing my intake of the various offending foods has helped a great deal. I am not 100% strict about my diet, however, and would like to find out whether or not I have CD so that I can be sure I am not damaging my intestines (or get more strict with the diet if I am indeed found to have CD). I am currently 9 weeks pregnant, and assume that the biopsies are out, due to concerns over the effects of anesthesia on the baby, etc. Is there any information on whether the serological tests are accurate in pregnant women? Thanks, Kerrie Schurr
