The Fall 1995 newsletter from the NOMSG group has the following passage
(referring to their recent annual conference):

  Heard at the conference: If you see "minimally processed" on the label
  of fresh chicken, it may have been dipped in MSG. This is a USDA
  appelation often found on chicken shipped to the store in bulk and
  packed on the premises. To be safe, look for the label that says "No
  Additives, No Preservative."

While anecdotal, if true, the MSG most likely would be in the form of HVP.

My question to Don Kasarda. Can you contact some of your colleagues and see
just what is allowed under the "minimally processed" appellation?
