Subject: DreamUp Wisconsin: Call for Initial Proposals, Due 8/29

Hi all -

I hope all are staying dry.

I wanted to be sure you were aware that we are now accepting initial proposals for The Alliance for the American DreamDreamUp Wisconsin Challenge.

The first challenge for DreamUp Wisconsin is to develop proposals to increase the net income of 10,000 Dane County households by 10% by the end of 2020.

Proposals are due by 11:59 p.m. on August 29th, 2018.

Proposals must:
·         Either increase income directly or reduce costs of living (e.g., in areas such as
          housing, child care, healthcare, education, food, energy, transportation); and
·         Include a community-university partnership.

The strongest proposals will:
·         Draw from and benefit a diverse set of people and communities;
·         Be interdisciplinary or multi-sector; and
·         Be evidence-based and use technological innovation.

Please refer to the link or attached document for more details and instructions on submitting a proposal; we look forward to hearing your ideas!

Please share widely and I would encourage you to submit ideas and/or proposals.

Of course, I'm working with the leadership team on this effort, so I too am happy to be a resource should any questions, concerns, or interest arise. Peng Her has also recently begun as a part of our leadership team on this effort. We're thrilled to welcome him to the university and excited to work with him on this critical opportunity for our campus and community.

Finally, I'd encourage you all to read the latest Madison Magazine issue which includes a cover story "What it Means to Be Native American in Today's Society" featuring Missy Tracy. The article is an introduction to a number of others around local projects to build awareness of tribes as Madison's first inhabitants, the 11 federally recognized tribes of Wisconsin, and more. Thank you to Missy for sharing her story and ensuring these important voices are elevated across our greater community.

Well wishes for a great week!

Leslie
