Great piece Mr. Drammeh. The article resonated very well with what we have fought for all these years and the failure of this leadership to set the bar high by encouraging system change and institutional overhaul. Now that Jammeh has been vanquished, the bar is being lowered once again to cater for self perpetuating rule and personality cults. This is rather unfortunate but it does seems as though, our fight against Jammeh was just about regime change but not system change. Now that victory has been achieved in changing Jammeh's kleptocracy and authoritarian regime, its business as usual for our present leadership to degenerate back to our ugly past. To date, no assets have been declared, The Gambia still remains the most expensive destination in Africa to place a phone call, one wonders who is cashing in, yet to date, the new leadership hasn't still ameliorated or even mentioned why it cost Gambians more to make phone calls and internet services, no VP to date which has never happened in the history of our country, yet despite our cries and complains, the leadership is mute as we do not even matter and like you rightly stated, Ousainou is seen celebrating his party's victory by reverting back to Jammeh's play book of a personal fiefdom. The Gambia has a long way to go and seemingly, there is nothing new under the sky. A leadership that wouldn't listen to its people is soon bound to degenerate to a dictatorship.
