I heard a few DX stations, including a couple that were coming in quite strong, and I heard one pileup on 21.026. My very unscientific observation is that while there may be more licensed hams than ever before, they are not active on the HF bands. The actual number of active hams on HF I think is considerably fewer than ever before. Which I think means most of the new hams are no code tech license holders that are active on VHF/UHF if they are active at all. Ron, K8HSY -----Original Message----- From: Richard B. Indeed I did not hear much either; certainly not what I expected based on the propagation factors. What's up with that? 73, Richard KK6MRH -----Original Message----- From: For blind ham radio operators [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Dr. Ronald E. Did any of you? The most accessible website I have found for solar reporting is at the following link, especially the second table (Three Day SFI and A-index Forecast). Indeed, apparently today should be an awesome day with SFI, A and K at 126, 7 and 1. Incidentally, I have never seen the K Index as low as it can go - "1" today. http://dx.qsl.net/propagation/ HTH & 73, Richard KK6MRH -----Original Message----- From: For blind ham radio operators [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Michael Ryan Sent: Monday, December 14, 2015 2:50 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Measuring propagation Hi all: What's the best source for measuring propagation, K index or others? Is there a formula to work with or if you use the K index, the lower the better and the higher the other index the better? I think the K is around 4 and I just listened to our locall 75M traffic net on an online receiver based in England and signals were very strong. 1 of the check ins reported a K index of 4 and I think the other index he referenced was the A and it was 120 I think.LOL Also what's a good blind friendly site where these can be tracked?
