2016 Conference: Call for Proposals

AHEAD and pepnet 2 are pleased to announce the Call for Proposals for its 39th Annual Conference AND the pepnet 2 Postsecondary Training Institute to be held

July 11 - 16, 2016
JW Marriott Hotel - Indianapolis, Indiana USA

Call for Proposals
Submission Deadline: November 13, 2015

As we gather for AHEAD 2016 in Indianapolis, Indiana, The Crossroads of America, we consider the connections made through the efforts of our professionals and members. Like the city of Indianapolis itself, AHEAD serves as a hub connecting disability professionals, advocates, researchers, faculty, and students. Our members set out on their own various courses, choosing a target, at times seeking help with directions, and maybe finding new or interesting routes and destinations through the assistance and guidance of those they meet along the way.

To illuminate. To shine, to cast or shed light upon. This year, AHEAD draws inspiration from its host state, Indiana --a dynamic pathway for the United States, and home to one of the world's first cities glowing with electric lights. With that in mind, attendees are invited to consider the ways in which they can help illuminate fellow conference-goers with their insights and experiences, collaborations and undertakings, theoretical knowledge and research findings to further our collective work in meeting the needs of individuals with disabilities and our various constituents.

With the annual conference approaching, it is important to recognize the value that this event brings forth. The annual conference is the Association's hallmark event, drawing participants from around the world, and representing many fields including education, government, law, research, and technology. Attendees converge for an exciting mix of learning, policy development and face-to-face networking.

While all relevant proposals and poster sessions are encouraged, AHEAD seeks submissions in the following content areas:
* AHEAD Start: Guidance for the Newer Disability Services Professional
*         Assistive and Accessible Technologies
* Enhancing Learning and Engagement Opportunities for Students with Disabilities
* How to Be Research and Data Driven in Higher Education
* Intersectionality of Disability and Diverse Populations
*         Legal Aspects
* Programmatic Innovation & Campus Collaborations
*         Research and Disability Studies
* Strategic and Effective Disability Services Management
*         Student Athletes and Disability
* Topics Related to Specific Institution-Types: Community Colleges, Small and/or Private Institutions, Large and/or Research I Universities, System Institutions
* Transition and Career Outcomes for Students with Disabilities
