Tom Inevitably there would have been some capacitance and inductance effect. As you say, firming up the joint would alter the resonance further. A friend of mine once heard about multiple dipole arrays for several bands. He got it wrong, as he twisted them together rather than fanning them out. He couldn't attain resonance on any band. Again, probably the same parameters came into play. 73 David W Wood -----Original Message----- From: For blind ham radio operators [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Tom Fowle Sent: Sunday, August 23, 2015 3:51 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: Quick way to tune dipole Mark, I don't know what would happen if you soldered the joints, but I'd bet the resonant frequency would change so you'd probably have to trim again. Honestly I'm puzzled as to why your method even worked, but not to doubt you that it did. It's sure an easier fix than dragging soldering gear to both ends of the dipole.
