Well that is the phrase I used, he could be said to be a dictator by most account but not all account. His government participated in flaunting international human rights conventions and treaties he entered into by torturing even those at high school, among other things. Can you refute all those allegations? If Jawara had done what Senghore did, that is given up power to another, then he would have succeeded in rescuing our country from tyranny.

Kind regards,

Kejau

Kejau once again you said that Jawara is a dictator. Check your posting below:-
Jawara stayed in power for three decades until ousted in a coup and have participated in denying Gambian government positions just because they are opposition elements. He was a dictator by most accounts and Yaya Jammeh has been deploying Jawara's ways, the only difference being the use of arms. Jawara and his government had tortured kids as young as 14 and had participated in voters card buying, etc.
who make the above statement is it not Kejau?

Thank you Karim.

Good that now you are discussing issues and not hurling insults and accusations without bases, we thank God.
I didn't say Jawara was a dictator but neither was he a democrat in the true meaning of the word.
1. He ruled for three decades as if there is no one in his party or in the country and those in his party who didn't go to beg him to continue his misrule like uncle Bakary Dabo were sidelined and removed from vice presidency and those who went to beg like my in law Saikou Sabally were rewarded with vice presidency.
2. His government dismisses civil servants who visit opposition leaders every day.
3. His government was complicit in torturing kids as young as 15 years.
4. The list goes on and on.
My wife's dad, as Bamba said, was the most senior ambassador but she disagrees with their policy and will never say Dawda was a democrat.

Regards
Kejau.

Serign Bamba
Please dont waste your time. I was runing the extention station in Mamut Fana and Kudang was my circle village. I when to Niamina when Waa Juwara (Independent) and Waa Ceesay from Jareng(PPP) stood in the election and the people of Niamina East vote Waa Juwara as their candidates. I also witness the chiftancy fight between Modou Tope and Kudang. If Jawara was a dictator as claimed by Kejau Touray both Modou Tope and Waa Juwara will not dominate Niamina East political scene. There is no village in Niamina East i did not know. I have work with women in the rice field and because of my Brufut family connection Kejau's own home always used to be my first point of contact. I was in Kudang when one of his elder brother daughter Adama Touray was borned in the ricefield and was great that a trained traditional birth attendant was around. I have to make efforts use by motor bicylce to get the nurse and ambalance from the village to pick the lady from the rice field.

You see brother kejaw, I have matured a lot interacting with people  I no longer engage in fruitless debates. You know why I said you accusing Jawara of being a dictator was more personal than a constructive factual debate. You said it yourself the he marginalised or how do I put it kudang was sidelined. Where have you gathered such baseless radiokangkang from? Kudang gained immencedly from the PPP with directors, parmanent secretaries and diplomats. Infact you know your were just baseless when you made those accusations 9f a party that cobtributed so much into your becoming a lieutenant.  Why didn't the PPP then refused you further military training when you were shortlisted based on your Kudang connections? As for Dr. Marena and Late Uncle sheriff, you and I know their roles in the PPP. Talk about things you know abd not just hearsay please. I have these things on record during my historical research on the Gambia. Comparing Jawara to this monster you contributed in creating is an insult to us Families of this noble man Jawara. I welcome people criticising Jawara for yes there were huge mistakes in his administration but am sure even your dear wife would not agree with you when you compare her father's party to yours AFPRC junta turned APRC.x
Debating constructively is ok by me but not based on radiokangkang. You only talk about Dr. Marena not accepting to lead led to Jawara becoming President. Who told you that? Was that a Kudang gossip? Dr. Marena was approached yes and he suggested Jawara yes but not as you want us to belief. The truth was Jawara was more a better leader which Dr  Marena acknowledged since their student days here in the UK. There was two groups the Sanjali Bojang group and the koba Leigh group. Go ask about it.x

You have nothing.  Absolutely nothing and it is because of hardship and joblessness that you vacate UK to Norway.  You earlier said you contribute to my legal fees and now collections contribution.  Who handling that collection on my behalf?  I am on my way to work on my crazy 12 hours patterm and only I am delist I will continue to rejoin your bullshit.
Kejau I don't depend on the state.  I have paid my tuition fee in this country as an international student when the state continue to pay your allowance and tuition fees and you drop out.  When I got my atatus I work hard and return to do my postgraduate under self funding. If you think I am useless and depending on woman for my life think again
I am a single parent and leaving with my 15 years old son and culturing hard work and determination.  You are just a waste of space.  Boy my only advice don't negelect your family even while you are a lone with no children.  Since you claim to be rich help them with their livelihoods back home.

Nyang.

The only issue I raised was that Karim is a man of straw that is the reason his wife left him and that is the reason he can hurl false accusations against folks here without abate.

I apologised to him and others here for that. I may have erred direct contributions in contributing to his legal fees but not financial assistance to him from others and I. If you based your entire judgement on my being frank in that, then you have no right to pass judgement here on me and  whether my integrity is clouded is your biased judgement and if that is meant to settle past scores with me, that is your prerogative but please leave decent folks to make up their own minds.

This is indeed serious, kejau should have never included karim's family life in the first place. And now withdrawing claims of financial assistance after throwing it around on multiple times casts a big cloud of doubt in everything else he says in this matter.
For Karim, the insults are never going to help you.
Peace!

Can someone please remove or bring to order these two insane folks on the L! I have tried so hard not to get involved in this childish, foolish and irresponsible debate but can't keep quiet so long.  What has Jawara's birthday celebrations got to do with rape, asylum, divorce or Paedophile accusations?
Gambians have more serious issues to resolve. I have observed hypocrisy at full swing here while I silently read comments from folks and I think in all fairness both kejaw and karim were at fault in this instance.  Both kejaw and karim so dis respectfully made terrible mistakes here both as fathers and husbands, it is totally irresponsible and disrespectful to both subscribers and readers of this very important forum. I belief in all fairness, being personal is what affects most Gambians and this includes all of us. We love to criticize but so much hate to face criticism ourselves. Kejaw was wrong there.
Much of his criticism of Jawara was all personal and nothing to do with national issues.  When the same was thrown at him, as he always does, threats of court sanctions. Come on that is foolish. Who is scared of court? Those in glass houses should never throw stones.
As for karim, he was way out of order. Hawling insults is never the solution to any issue.  I think karim made a point when he reminded kejaw that he too was part of a rogue regime but he too got Gambian when threatened with court sanctions. The courts here are not Gambian military nonsence.
Both of you grow up and stop this nonsense. Respect us your brothers you debate with or both of you visit the courts to sort out your madnesses and see if judges would entertain you.x

You are struggling with mental health problem. My asylum was paid by legal aid.  My lawyer Flora Robinson did not receive pency from any Gambia. Stop damn lies. Who did you paid the money to,  Who was collecting the money for my legal fee? Stop making a joke of yourself.  I and my lawyer didn't receive money from any Gambians about my legal fee. My case only take 4 months and during that was not depending on any Gambia has a receive suppory from NASS.
Kejau ot been rumours sometimes that you are struggling with mental illness and the trend can be seen through your pathological lies and irrational judgement.  It is about time you seek help.

Thank you Yero.

I do not think you are being fair with me here as I very mildly criticized Jawara and because of that Karim for days have heaped insults and accusations at me without ant provocation and nobody here took it upon them to caution him. I had to rein him in by threatening to take him to court and only mentioned his deserting wife to buttress that point and warn him off me. I could not have acted otherwise without being dishonest.
I contributed with others here to pay for Karim's asylum claim legal fees and on top of that he had consistently asked me for money during that trying times for him. Instead after his successful claim,  he had consistently insulted folks here including LJD for merely criticising the PPP.  God is the best judge so I leave him to judge between Karim and I!
His supposed spat with me started when he called me to support him to take their London organisation from Abdoulie Jobe and I disagreed. This is the reason I dislike politics and interested in running business. But with politics, I have no choice here as it chose us when it thrusts us on exile and put a duty on us to free our country.

Karim -

You are looking much more handsome with the piece you wrote on the environment than some of the useless and ugly insults here. I know in these debates, we can all lose our tempers here and there. I was going to parade your piece http://gainako.com/?p=5188%20
around as my next Al Gore, but these exchanges here are not looking good, and associating with you means helping you realize the damage that your comments are causing. Just apologize to Kejau and let us move on to other better things.

Kejau -

Here is a brotherly advice. You might want to consider a better debating approach. If you see the ugly beast (anger) is about come in-between you and another person, maybe try going over your comments, and see if just changing your wording, acknowledging, and even adding some critical comments can help. See the emotional button is a hot spot and how you press on that button determines the output one can get from some of these debates. Sometimes it helps. Other than that, this pathway is very ugly.

Take the handshake guys and move on....we have a long way to go.
