A little clarification from my last post.

Fruit has the strategy of wanting animals to eat their fruit, but to
not digest the seed. The seeds then pass through the digestive system
and get deposited at a new location, along with a clump of fertilizer.

Many plants that have berries also have thorns. This is to deter
animals, but allow birds to get to the berries. Their seeds are very
small. They pass through a bird's digestive system, but get digested
in animals.

No fruit seed is a paleo food. Grapeseed oil is a by-product, it is
not a food. Cottonseed oil is another by-product, and a toxic one.
Cotton crops have a lot of chemicals on them. It should not be sold as a food.

Now the sellers of chocolate and coffee produce all sorts of studies
to make them appear to be healthy foods. But both are fruit seeds and
are not paleo. They are toxic raw. They have to be roasted to make
them edible. Coffee has some 1000 chemicals. We have no idea what
most of them do to us.

This list started as a support list for people following the
Neanderthin diet. Back when this list started in May 1997 that was
the only paleo book out there. The author, Ray Audette, has a very
simple way of determining if the food is paleo. While we may cook the
food, it needs to be edible raw.

One can design a study to get the results that one seeks. For
example: The makers of MSG have produced a bunch of studies showing
that MSG is harmless. How do they do it? First, before you can be in
the study you are interviewed by phone. They ask if you are sensitive
to MSG. If you reply yes, you are excluded. Then in the study they
use aspartame as the control beverage. Aspartame is also an
excitotoxin. Then the results are 15% of the control and 15% of the
MSG ingesters have a reaction. Hence MSG is okay.
