Demba

The interview itself came out fantastically, but Suntou's take on the two critical issues of Yaya Jallow and a front-line  leadership role in the UDP, as well as on the visa saga, are quite compelling.

A few years ago, a fellow-Gunjurian asked me to complete a US non-immigrant visa application for him here in London. Years earlier, he was issued a US visa in a combined application with his daughter, but he decided not to attend his relative's graduation. Daughter went and never returned. The application questionnaire revealed that issue and he was refused a visa on the grounds he got a US visa for a daughter who never returned. His application was refused on this ground alone.

Question therefore is whether Yaya Jallow could have been involved in a similar issue, and was therefore refused exclusively on this basis. In a situation such as this, it is immaterial what others said because that alone sufficient to be denied a visa.

Can you see Yaya Jallow publicly answering a question on such a scenario?

I thanked you for grilling Suntou and in the process forcing him to open up

What "clearance" and what "source" Farang?

Based on my empirical understanding of visa and privacy issues, I am in no doubt the real answers are with Yaya Jallow himself. Although I have no private insight on this matter, the continuation of this conversation cannot be in his interest. He will therefore never be available to publicly  clear the air on the matter if only because he has a reputation to protect.

All concern in the UDP knew my position on this well before the Time you saw it reported by the Online Papers. I would rather before coming Public with it Deal with it Internally ( as some suggested on one of my earlier commentaries) and let the chips fall where they may. Lamin I know you have sources in the UDP; Please refer to them on my position on the matter. For now I keep my Peace But this I would say I am deeply Disappointed on the Progress of the UDP since 1999. If Only the direction of the party was geared towards the development of Party and the Country the APRC would not be such a manifest state of Dominance in Gambian Politics. Some did speak to my purported membership; well such and similar happenings was not my Reason for joining the UDP. I am still a member of the UDP mark you. I will only continue on this discuss when you get clearance and sent it to my private email from your source. Much obliged.

What are you waiting for then Farang?

When this story first hit the rumour mills, it was some two or more years ago. So when are you telling us your conclusive version of events?

Well I have nothing to say about what Suntou says or hears, what I know for facts since the origin of the Issue and why it continued. All concern in the UDP knew I know more about it and I can speak to it without Bias and with Absolute Outrage. Thanks.

Well Farang, this is in the public domain. It is not critical at all, and an informed decision can indeed be made on the available information as elaborated between Demba and Suntou. I think Suntou's position is more objectively defensible.

Good conversation guys

As usual, Demba was his usual erudite and combative self.

On balance though, Suntou acquitted himself rather remarkably. His answers on Yaya Jallow, whether on his subdued role as Deputy Leader of the UDP, or the US visa saga, are quite compelling. On both issues, Yaya Jallow, assuming he is part of the rumour mill implicating UDP bad faith, has no leg to stand on. I urge Demba to objectively revisit his position especially given his rather impressive understanding of how the US system operates. I doubt Yaya Jallow will agree to an on-air interview on the US-visa issue

You are my star political interviewer Demba, but this one with Suntou, and Abou, is too needlessly quarrelsome.
