Dr. Seedat Jobe’s Scheduled Interview with Freedom.

Everyone including Pa Nderry and Radio Co-host, the former ‘Fatu-Show’ agreed that Barrister Mai Fatty’s appearance on Freedom Radio was a great gesture after a week in hell of political jibes back and forward.

We are expecting Dr. Seedat Jobe on Radio Freedom later on today. The questions that everyone is asking again: Do we expect that Dr. Jobe would come and do his attacks and get back to his comfort zone? The last time he was on Freedom radio, he mentioned Mai being wanted by the U.S authorities for some fraud. Whether true or not true, it is probably not that much of a concern to me as a Freedom listener/reader at this point. The moral question is what was Dr. Jobe’s intention in doing that? The whole fiasco started months back after Barrister Fatty positioned that those that worked with Jammeh previously were ok to join the struggle but first they probably needed to acknowledge some of the work done by others already, apologize for some of their negative (if any) contributions to Gambia’s political sphere.  The second instance, the same Dr. Jobe was also on Freedom attacking some others on specific the Raleigh steering group.

While I am not a GMC supporter, here is what another comrade of ours observed “Admirably, he rose above the fray and the political madness that polluted the Gambian social media for Week, considering the amount of verbal barricade he'd received from the same medium he's accorded the interview to. Transparency and public accountability have become foreign to African Politicians. I'd applaud Mr. Fatty for the courage to avail himself to Gambians, especially on Social Media. This is the kind of discourse that could take us somewhere. Politics of issues and not personalities. Let's see what we've learned from today” (Pata Said khan, FB, 12/29/2013).

I couldn’t help but not in emphasis that Comrade Pata was speaking for me as well as many other concerned Gambians who are losing the bad taste of Gambia’s sphere politics. We are already victims of such a powerful force (tyranny under Jammeh) and we the victims are also skinning one another in broad day light out of political jealousy and hypocrisy.

While I do not see any wrong with criticizing and offering solutions “Courtesy of Dr. Ba-Banutu Gomez), I want to caution that an elder in Dr. Jobe’s caliber ought to think twice about what is at stake. It is certainly not important for me to dwell on some of what has been attributed to the Doctor’s contribution while serving as a Jammeh minister. The trial of the UDP and their supporters over the death of an APRC supporter who attacked the UDP convey was one case in point. Some other quotes were attributed with Dr. Jobe while serving as Jammeh’s V.I.P Minister directed to the opposition which could be interpreted as political hostility towards opponents.

Personally what I am expecting from his experience which we will all celebrate is a way of seeing people united and not trying to do more division than has already been observed. Mai’s comments in my review were certainly spot-on and as observed, Mai has availed himself to the online media, though again I do not see anything wrong in criticizing and asking Mai on questions about his party, reasons for opposition disunity and other issues affecting Gambians.

For disclosure, I am not a GMC supporter and I don’t belong to any political party. I am a concerned citizen. I am continually getting worried about Jammeh’s aftermath. My point is, we don’t want surprises when Jammeh is gone. If anyone thinks they can hijack the Gambia from its citizens, please think again…and that would be the real fight over birthright.

Best for 2014,

Yero.
