It is with pleasure Baba. Our kids need to connect with authentic aspects of our thinking from our thinkers. I use to run a Saturday kids club, where we discuss stories from Africa. It is unbelievable some children as old as 11 asking me question, so profoundly sad, that, it makes one wonder. One question was that, do people sleep in houses in Africa? By God, this came from a 10 year old boy. Some parents are alert to this issues, sadly some are not. Books will be the more easier means to enlighten the children...I can remember appealing for short stories, and my good friend Yero (Dalton) deliver the goods, two short stories...
Hope to read your next book.
Thanks

Suntou,
Thanks for sharing my small book with your son. I hope he finds it interesting. Yes, it is a good idea to have our children in the West read Gambian literature so they can know their roots. Thank you.

I receive the excellent book of poetry by Dr Momodou Sallah last week. I gave the book to my son to read it first. He read couple pages and came to me saying 'Baba, I think this is meant for grown ups'. I laughed. Dr Sallah's book is riveting, compelling and hey contain some mild mature themes. I will recommend it to all. Hopefully, very soon, the book will be a topic of discussion. Fascinating ideas. I then handover Dr Galleh's book 'Mandelas other chidlren' to him. He then turn around and ask, "who is Baba Jallow"? I said, go read the bio in the book.
I hope many us parents with kids in Diaspora can encourage our children to read books by our brothers and sisters. Although, Gambian writers then to be shy with their work, we can seek the books out, especially with kindle versions. This will inspire them, as the mentality and mindset in the west is more discouraging for our children. Thanks Dr Sallah for the book. I hope we will see a children version of your fascinating poetry mind.
