Raymond Gibba, Abdou Salam Jammeh charged with mismanagement of NYC funds

Police prosecutors in Banjul on Tuesday March 12th 2013 filed in economic crime charges against Raymond Gibba and Abdou Salam Jammeh at the Banjul Magistrates’ Court, presided over by acting Principal Magistrate Dawda Jallow.

When the case was called for mention, the police prosecutor, Corporal 3470 Badjie, informed the court that the accused persons have absconded and further made an application under pursuant (1) to Section 8 of the Criminal Procedure Code Cap 11:01 Volume III for the court to issue bench warrants to secure the police Interpol to bring the accused persons before the court for trial.

In his ruling, the presiding Magistrate granted the application and ordered for the bench warrant to be issued for the accused persons to be apprehended.

The accused persons are charged with economic crime (specified) offence act contrary to Section 5(F) of the Economic Crime Cap 13:07 Volume III, Laws of The Gambia, 2009. According to the particulars of offence, the accused persons sometime in the year 2007 and 2009 in the city of Banjul and diverse places in the Republic of The Gambia, intentionally did an act which shows to be detrimental to the economy of The Gambia by mismanaging the fund of the National Youth Council, thereby committed an offence.
