Hi Howard, Any help would be greatly appreciated. In addition to what has already occurred, after I did the Windows fix wit the sfc /scannow switch and the install disk in the CD drive, I now get an odd Firefox crash when trying to run that browser. The woes continue. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Howard, W A 9 Y B W" <[log in to unmask]> To: <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Monday, February 11, 2013 9:03 PM Subject: Re: Fw: [BlindTech] Sluggishness and Microsoft Security Essentials ServiceStopped Ron, There is an undocumented way to do a fresh nondestructive reinstall of Windows XP which will not destroy any of your data or applications. You get a fresh reinstall of all the windows files. You will need sighted help to run the install as you always need with a Windows install until your sound and screen reader are up and running. I can dig up the information if you are interested. 73 Howard #3 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ron Canazzi" <[log in to unmask]> To: <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Monday, February 11, 2013 7:57 PM Subject: Re: Fw: [BlindTech] Sluggishness and Microsoft Security Essentials ServiceStopped > Hi Steve, > > I did try all except your final option.
