Hi, this is for any users of the Kenwood TMV-71A. On Monday, I
turned on my Kenwood 71a and it wouldn't speak to me. Must have
been something I said. I tried to console it but nothing doing.
So, I got mad and wouldn't talk to it either. Seriously, I did a
full reset and behold, the voice came back. I programmed in a
frequency and tried to put it in a memory and that's when I
started having issues. I couldn't save memories. I even
followed some directions I had written previously. I finally got
one to stick but the voice said something like channel 1 of 9. I
have never heard it say that before and there are way more than 9
memories available. I thought I knew how to save memories but I
guess not. My menu file is somewhat confusing even reading it on
the braille display of the Apex. I wonder if any of you guys,
and girls, has ever sorted out that stuff into a more usable file
either for speech or braille users, whatever more usable might
mean to people. Anyway, I am still baffled about the unit not
talking. Just turned it off a couple of days ago, then on today
and no speech. Guess I ignored it too long. Thanks for any
advice. Jim WA6EKS
