LJD:

Thanks to
you and Haruna for the Politics lesson 101. Romney’s collection of a gift at
the white house now puts the joke on him. (LOL). Quite honestly, Romney or his campaign mates
didn't reach out to some of us. For all I can tell you, I was open about some
of his televised comments. Second, part of what frustrates me about the likes
of the Trump is the manner and nature he questions about Obama's birth. That
goes beyond Obama and it was an insult to all immigrants. Romney should have
disassociated himself from such comments.

 There is no
doubt in my mind that both Romney and Obama sees America first and fully knows
that they are indispensable. That part of America is very admirable. Yes, I am
following Baba's series including, 'why America works.'

 I must tell
you that I am reserved a lot in politics especially when it comes to some major
decisions politicians make daily. I think myself and Demba go back and forward
on this. I see the uncivilized part of politics quite distasteful and
hypocritical to put it quite nicely. I am ready to take the naïve card for one
minute, but my whole point is, there is a major difference between serving
country and serving personal interest. In Gambia’s politics, we have seen how
folks just turn green in the name of development. Imagine, among all those that
were shouting Waa this, Rambo that, etc…only to wake up one day and find that
they were indeed grooming an enemy for the whole country.

 I wish I
had more time to dwell on this.

 Thanks and I
enjoyed your take.

 Best
regards,

Yero

Please don't provoke me into joining the lynch mob on this one. I'm talking our friend Haruna.
Demba summarized it beautifully in his first reaction. Did I not tell you America is not about its vast vistas of open space, its magnificent roads, world class
 architecture, technological marvels, etc etc.
The anchor of America's phenomenal success lies in its ideas, the ideas that ushered in the federal system and created the enduring Republic. Contrary to what our own Professor-President thinks about himself and our native Gambia, Obama and Romney are fully aware they are both dispensable in the larger American story.
Romney applied for the position of tenant-in-chief at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue but you, and
Demba, and Haruna, and Ousman all refused to vote for him. He lost! During the campaign, he vigorously, but sometimes acrimoniously, stated his conservative case. You were not going to vote for him and so you were not enamored of his extreme articulation of Republican values. All along though, it was never personal.
Remember your previous humour when the two candidates appeared together during the campaign?
So it should never be about politicians. When you die in The Gambia's political battles, it would be for the values that matter to you and not for any politician. involved in that process.
Had time to read Baba's "Why America works ...."? If not, find time.

Haruna:

The cold season is whistling on us.

On a more humorous note, how can Romney say that Obama gave gifts and now he is agreeing to get a bigger gift? You and I know being a visitor at the white house is a bigger gift than those things he alleged just couple of weeks ago. I am sure they will pop that champagne. (LOL). That is why I like New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. For the others including the mighty Trump; where would they fit now? See how funny politicians can just make their way through.

On a more serious note, I equally see it more as American tradition. I guess that explains it all.

Thanks & good night!

Best,

Yero

Romney Collects his gift from Obama

It seriously makes me laugh. Those that die for politicians are the big fools. Just about two weeks ago, Governor Romney’s divisive comments didn’t go well with even his own party supporters. Forget about the negative and bitter election campaign that marred this year’s US presidential campaign for a minute. Well, here is Romney heading to the white house to collect his “gifts” from Obama.

Politics is really funny. It is better to believe in principle than to believe in politicians. Please don’t die for any politician…they are just that!!!

Best regards,
Yero
