Yes they are.  I've scanned a few Perry Mason books and have uploaded them 
to bookshare.

Are those books directly from the publisher in some form?  I've
noticed the same thing   My wife and I have used Bookshare for many
years and have thoroughly enjoyed the service; I have scanned and
uploaded a book and Ann has done several.  I think that all the
volunteer uploaders are to be congratulated for helping to create a
wonderful resource.  And of course, there will always be naysayers.
