I love you back Ky. Although you were in a bit of a hurry, I benefitted tremendously from the e-sentiment. I will await the completion of your thoughts, if tactless, to share with you the tradition of a ~Mo funeral. Allez!!

Aye Aye Suntou. I want everybody, even PDOISards like Kynesha to attend my friggin funeral. Better yet, I will think of a way to friggin mourn me instead of having to fly half-way around the world to attend a HarunaMo funeral. Our funerals will be conducted differently. I will develop that tradition before the year is over. Insha'Allah.

Coming back to the Halifa imbroglio;

Halifa has a place called the People's Center or Social village. That is where refugees ought to be directed because I think/hope that the people's Center is a non-profit philanthropic half-way house for the politically-indigent.

The reason why the people come to Foroyaa to see Uncle Halifa for their myriad personal needs is because Halifa is intimately involved in reviewing the work-product of the Foroyaa reporters thereby drawing the ire of the NIA. The NIA is sitting at the ready to go over the Foroyaa with a finer-toothed comb than they review other papers for malice, libel, and slander, thereby endangering the reporters in the first place in a lawless nation. We remember the saga of the Journalist-6. If the editor of Foroyaa being a high-ranking PDOIS official does not inure extreme conflicts of interest, a lowly reporter would not. It is the appearance of conflict that endangers the reporters' lives even more. In Gambia, no reporter or editor is really safe. That ought to be instructive for newspapers that are fronts for political organizations.

Halifa's intrepid reaction was out of order. It is designed to muzzle the voices of news gatherers and reporters and keep them beholden to Halifa's person for their very safety. Bonafide newspaper reporters are rendering a service to the entire Gambian population and civil society. It ought to be the work of the entire population to preserve their lives and industry.

Halifa taking personal interest in defending reporters renders civil society and the GPU weak. We do not desire a coerced press in Gambia. UNDER any circumstance. Nevermind at funerals. We'll cross funeral bridges when we come to them.

Haruna.

Haruna
Your mediation skills are required to calm tempers at Foroyaa. The
Kilifa should not tell people not to attend his funeral. Again,
Foroyaa newspaper house should be made condusive for reporters, it
should not be a place where people can be disturbing the incredible
work of media journalism.
Foroyaa should not take things personal, neither try to bring in
unrelated issues like Halifa did. By playing the sympathy card and
public coming in and out is irrelevant. No one wants to be disturbed
whilst carrying out your job. Therefore, a different venue should
created for those looking for 'LEGAL ADVISE' from non-lawyers and
other social issues.
I agree entirely with the analysis of Freedom Newspaper.
