Cherno,

I certainly know that you are hanging onto these forwards. I have my doubts on this large number of defection in that area, especially the fact of it is Hamat's constitunuency. This is an area where the APRC seriously defrauded in the past (aka Yankuba Touray). Matters of fact, voters were tortured and some even arrested in the past. Yankuba Touray then used the state resources to engage in massive voter fraud, a strategy designed to remove Hamat in parliament because they were tired of his exposure of the criminal regime. I tell you this, no matter how long it takes, the truth is will come out one day.

Can you imagine a change from Yankuba Touray to Yankuba Colley. Can’t you see any resemblance in the manner of their behaviors?

In conclusion, it is to say that there is likely an exaggeration in that number.

Over 2000 opposition supporters in Niani Constituency over the weekend defected to the ruling APRC at a mass political rally held in Kuntaur, Central River Region (CRR) north.

The opposition defectors included Alhagie Sillah, a former embattled independent candidate for Niani Constituency; Pa Manga Nyang, the defeated candidate in the last local government election for Nyanga Bantang Ward; and Kawsu Jaiteh, a strong supporter of PDOIS.

Addressing the gathering, the APRC national mobiliser and mayor of KMC, Yankuba Colley, welcomed the defectors to the APRC. He urged them to rally behind President Jammeh and the ruling party, while advising them to be steadfast and maintain their unity and cooperation with the president. He also highlighted the various development projects enjoyed by the people of CRR over the years under the leadership of the Gambian leader.

Mayor Colley called on the people of Niani to come out in their large numbers to register in the forthcoming nationwide voter registration as it will enable them to vote. The National Assembly member for Upper Saloum, who also doubles as APRC regional desk officer, Hon. Sainey Mbye, called on the people of Niani to strengthen their unflinching support for President Jammeh and the APRC. He urged them to unite and cooperate in the interest of development, stressing that since President Jammeh came to power, CRR has benefited a lot from his development agenda.

The key defectors, Alhagie Sillah, Pa Manga Nyang and Kawsu Jaiteh, all assured of their allegiance to President Jammeh and the APRC. They further highlighted on the achievements of President Jammeh over the past 16 years, and promised to remain united behind him and the APRC.

Other speakers at the occasion included the Niani district chief, Alhaji Pierre Bah; Cherno Barra Touray, Alhaji Malang Saibo Camara, constituency chairman; Alhaji Malick Secka, regional chairman, and Baboucarr Jobe.
