Thanks for the, as always, very thoughtful post. While I agree with the 
above excerpt, there may be another dimension to this. Perhaps carbs are 
not self limiting so we could "stock up" with a little body fat when we 
found some ripe berries or fruits. The refined carbs and genetically 
modified fruits may be the foods that led us to what you call a 
"metabolically broken state".
