Haruna --

President Obama is fighting hard to rein in the big banks. He spent months building a bipartisan consensus in Congress around strong consumer protections. And he's even threatened to veto any reform bill that doesn't go far enough to bring the derivatives market under control.

But Republican leaders in the Senate are determined to stand in his way, threatening last week to block a vote on Wall Street reform. They'd rather protect the big banks funding their campaigns than American families on Main Street.

The President won't allow special interests to water down reform with loopholes and exemptions. But he can't win this fight if we don't have his back. We're relying on supporters like you to help us clear the last hurdle in the Senate and pass reform.

Please donate $5 or more to help us take the case straight to the American people on why we need to rein in Wall Street.

Please donate $5 to help rein in Wall Street.

The House has already passed reform -- and the Senate debate is set to begin in just days. If we mobilize our grassroots power now, we can beat the big banks' insider arm-twisting and win enough support to pass a bill through the Senate.

If we don't, it means the same people whose recklessness got us into the financial crisis are going to be allowed to run wild. It means no protection for home owners looking for a fair mortgage they can afford. And it means no provisions in place to ensure that taxpayers are never again asked to bail out a big bank because it's "too big to fail."

With the final debate approaching, we're already seeing a barrage of right-wing attacks against reform, with Wall Street's allies spending millions in false advertising and special interest lobbyists swarming Capitol Hill.

Our success relies on shifting our grassroots efforts into high gear. That means hosting more events, talking to more voters, and strengthening our rapid response operation to ensure we can stand up to our opponents' attacks without delay.
