Can you get into safe mode. Then delete the video display adaptor and re-boot? -----Original Message----- From: Personal Computer Hardware discussion List [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of [log in to unmask] Sent: Wednesday, March 31, 2010 10:44 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [PCBUILD] Update to won't boot This sounds like a problem with the display driver (usually nv4_disp). The no screen condition is unusual, and makes this hard to troubleshoot. You might try running the diagnostics if you see the "F12 for boot options" at startup, otherwise you could try an external screen and reinstall the driver. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [PCBUILD] Update to won't boot From: Ralph Hunter <[log in to unmask]> Date: Wed, March 31, 2010 2:40 pm To: [log in to unmask] My dell laptop inspiron crashed. I get no screen now. But when I did get a screen it said N4_disp , the device driver got stuck in an infinite loop which usually indicated a problem in the device itself or the device driver prograMMING the hardware incorrectly. Check Dell for driver updates. I disconnected the printer which was the only thing attached. It is going thru a wireless. Without a screen I cannot proceed with tests or do a restore. Should I reinstall the os? It is Windows xp Media sp3.
