In later models of the THF6A, Kenwood added a menu item, #31, which turns off the charger circuit when using alkaline cells, or when running from a 12 volt source in a situation where you don't also want to charge the battery. The reset menu #30 is the last option on the older models. I'm not sure when that change was made, but it was on the unit which I bought 3 years ago, and not on the first one I bought in 2002. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tom Behler" <[log in to unmask]> To: <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Sunday, April 18, 2010 6:20 PM Subject: Re: Resetting the THF6A Mike: This sounds familiar. I'll give it a try here. The only thing I'm not sure of is the menu number, but I think it's the last one. 73 from Tom Behler: KB8TYJ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Duke, K5XU" <[log in to unmask]> To: "Tom Behler" <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Sunday, April 18, 2010 11:25 AM Subject: Resetting the THF6A > Tom, > > Ask your wife, or someone with sight to check the display in order > to > confirm what I am about to tell you. > > I haven't reset mine in a long time, and I never got around to > cleaning up the manual, so I may be off a bit. > > To reset the radio, go to menu item #30. > > Once you open that item, the choices are "no," "VFO Reset," and > "full > reset," or some wording like that. > > The default setting is No. > > Choose the option you want, then press the menu enter function of > the > joy stick. > > At that point, you will be asked to confirm the reset. > > I think you do that by pressing the joy stick again. > > Hope that helps. > > Mike Duke, K5XU > American Council of Blind Radio Amateurs > > > -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No virus found in this incoming message.
