President Jammeh=E2=80=99s mother Asombi Bojang collapsed Saturday, follow=
ing news that her adopted son General Lang Tombong Tamba has been arrested=
by the state, well placed sources close to the State House revealed.=C2=
=A0 The President=E2=80=99s mum nearly passes away, as she could not withs=
tand the devastating news that Jammeh has indeed caged General Tamba. Doct=
ors responded to her Kotu residence, where she was given an emergency medi=
cal treatment.=C2=A0 The old lady was not happy with President Jammeh=E2=
=80=99s decision to jail Tamba, whom she described as his first son.=20
Shortly after her recovery from Saturday=E2=80=99s heart attack, which com=
pelled Jammeh to show up at her private residence, Asombi Bojang made it=
abundantly clear that Jammeh days are numbered. She told a group of sympa=
thizers, and well-wishers about her son=E2=80=99s ungratefulness, and betr=
ayal schemes against his former loyalists.=C2=A0=20
=E2=80=9C Yahya is my son, but he has betrayed me as a mother. He has also=
betrayed the people who put their lives on the line to defend his Preside=
ncy. Both Lang Tombong, and Baba K Jobe have played a crucial part in ensu=
ring that my son stayed in power. But today, all these people are gone.=C2=
=A0 I think the problem lies on my son. All these people cannot be wrong.=
=C2=A0His failure as a leader is imminent. He cannot survived this one,=
=E2=80=9Dshe warns.
According to the aggrieved President=E2=80=99s mother, she has cautioned=
Jammeh in the past to avoid having altercations with General Tamba. She=
said Tamba is not only respectful to her, =C2=A0but very caring.=C2=A0=20
=E2=80=9C I told Yahya in the past that I prefer Lang Tombong to coup him=
=C2=A0than someone, =C2=A0who is not part of the family, because Lang wil=
l never allow me to suffer. Lang is not the type who will sit and see me=
suffer. Prior to his arrest, he always stops by to the house every mornin=
g before going to work to give me =E2=80=9Ccollanut and tobacco,=E2=80=9D=
 she said.
The old lady said Jammeh=E2=80=99s own father had advised him before his=
demise to maintain Lang as his brother. She adds that Aziz James Jukung=
Jammeh was impressed by Lang=E2=80=99s qualities as young man then.=C2=A0=
She says Lang was very respectful and was always there for the Jammeh fam=
ily.=20
=E2=80=9C Jammeh=E2=80=99s own father confided with him in private, where=
he advised him to keep Lang as a friend, and brother. We both advised him=
but he does not listen. Since coming to power, he thinks that he is invin=
cible, but he is likely to fail,=E2=80=9D she warns.
Madam Bojang said Lang used to buy her rice, while he worked at the State=
House during the First Republic. She said Lang was more supportive to her=
than his own son Yahya Jammeh.=20
=E2=80=9C Lang would sometimes bought rice and bring it in the house and=
pretends as if Jammeh sends him to deliver it. He was always there for us=
.. He is my adopted first son,=E2=80=9D she said.
President Jammeh had exchanges with the mother when he showed up at the re=
sidence to check on her. He was confronted by Madam Bojang about Lang=E2=
=80=99s jailing, but Jammeh told his mother that he was following the dict=
ates of the law.=20
=E2=80=9C I have no comments on Lang=E2=80=99s case. I am merely following=
the dictates of the law. Whatever the law decides, that=E2=80=99s it. I=
have not embarrassed you per say. I am doing my job,=E2=80=9D Jammeh told=
 his mother.
Asombi Bojang retorted by telling Jammeh that he made the law, and his exc=
uses were untenable. She warned Jammeh that if he does not change, his fai=
lure as a leader of this country was imminent.
=C2=A0Meanwhile, General Tamba=E2=80=99s wife Sirah Sanyang is reported mi=
ssing. Even Asombi Bojang herself=C2=A0 tried to reach Siereh on her cellu=
lar phone, and land line but cannot access her. There are rumors that she=
has been arrested, but this paper can confirm that she has not been arres=
ted. Sources said Siereh Sanyang believed that her phone has been tapped,=
and is therefore avoiding conversation with callers.=20
