Hi William (coconut shell horse galloping sound effects)...

Just this year we purchased a commercial freezer, and it is stored in our unused bedroom. Its huge, but I'm not certain of the cubic feet.

Anyway, starting this year, my brother and parents and I went in thirds and purchased and entire grass fed bull cow, which is aged and butchered by the rancher. We end up with hundreds of pounds of meat. My brother and I take the most as my parents don't need that much.
We also purchase whole lambs (which my husband humanely slaughters) and we butcher ourselves.

As for pork and poultry, we are looking for a local rancher who will butcher and sell to us.

Going in with friends is a great way to buy a whole cow and come away with large amounts of meat that costs less than a supermarket. Most ranchers will sell a half or quarter cow as well. The one I bought from doesn't save the offal, so I am looking for another source for that.

We are looking into buying half a buffalo from a rancher here in northern california. They are all grass fed as well. I have never tasted buffalo.
So yes, the quest goes on! Nih! (One of my favorite movies of all time).

-Trish

There is another option, most paleo.
I could kill a bear next fall for its fat. Too late this year, it has
started snowing.
Meanwhile the quest goes on.
Nih!
