I've heard of people doing this with a Slip Streamed XP install CD that contains the drivers. There's s guide here: http://news.softpedia.com/news/Install-Windows-XP-On-SATA-Without-a-Floppy-F6-47807.shtml -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [PCBUILD] New HDD is not recognized in laptop HP dv6102od From: Don Penlington <[log in to unmask]> Date: Tue, September 29, 2009 8:24 pm To: [log in to unmask] At 08:26 AM 9/29/2009 -0700, you wrote: >You must Press F6 when installing XP to load the driver from a floppy, >which opens another can of worms if you don't have a floppy.>> That's precisely the problem I had recently, which I never resolved. So how do you get around that particular can of worms where there is no floppy? I tried to force the bios to load sata drivers from a CD which I inserted during the XP installation process instead of the non-existent floppy, but that wouldn't work. I tried hooking up a temporary floppy, but the computer didn't want to recognise it. I gave up in the end, as I had a sneaking suspicion that the mobo was faulty anyway.
